"Further Reflections on the Sustaining Power of God vs. Science"

"Indian hermit stuns doctors by surviving without food"

I came across this article and felt it could really aid our discussion of God's sustaining power vs. medical science.  Obviously, there are some loopholes...for one, this man in absolutely no way gives credit to God for his survival.  In fact, it is much the opposite!  He credits a man-made religion.  So...no.  I am not using him as an example of one that has survived depending solely on God.  But, let's take a deeper look at principles at work here.

Most doctors agree that you survive without food on average 8 weeks if you have water. If you do the math, that is 56 days.  The man in the article claims to have lived for 70 years without food or water.  I believe the report said he had been in the hospital for monitoring 180 days alreadywithout food and water.  The doctors proclaim him to be a miracle. Further, we find in the scriptures that Jesus survived 40 days on water alone.  Personally, when presented with the idea of fasting for the full 40 days, my mind races with thoughts of doubt, and I'm fairly confident that I am not alone.  40 days is a long time!  But, why do we continue to let the seed of doubt that Satan plants in our minds to stifle any opportunity for God to work.  Just earlier this year, when approaching our current budget, we approached it as an opportunity for us to do something (i.e. cut spending, and increase tithing), rather than allowing GOD to do something great!

So, I conclude with a referral to yesterday's post.  We must absolve to approach all things with an attitude of child-like faith, and rebuke our adversary when he attempts to sew the seeds of doubt.

God desires to do something great here, in a mighty way.  We should let Him!

"But with God, all things are possible"  Matthew 19:26

May the Word of Christ dwell in you richly...
